7 Weeks
Cadence was 7 weeks old this week. I can't believe how quickly it's going by. I already feel like she's growing up too fast. She's so close to rolling over from back to tummy. She'll get herself up on her side and then she gets stuck. She'll be doing it soon though.
She's also got amazing head control. She has since day one. She likes to push herself up while she's on your chest and she can hold it for at least a minute. She does it during "tummy time" too, well when it doesn't end up like this.

Tummy time really, probably should be called "Drooling on the Mat" time. Obviously she's getting something out of it though since she does have good head control and she's getting close to rolling over. Maybe the chemicals in the mat are giving her super powers?
Last Friday we went to Borders to get baby books. I wanted something that would help her develop. Like high contrast, black on white board books, but I couldn't find any so we ended up with an old favorite, Dr. Seuss.

She actually really likes it. Plus, Dr.Seuss illustrations are actually pretty contrasted, so it works. Who knew the baby would be the one holding still for the pic, not the daddy?Hmm... she's wearing that outfit again today. I think it's because she ended up getting it dirty early on in the day.

This is just a random picture of Cadence and Lydia. Lydia is her cousin. She's around 3 months older than Cadence. So they're 6 weeks, and 4 months in this picture. Their first play date. :) We were all just worried that Lydia was going to roll over Cadence.
I'm already starting to worry about going back to work. We haven't picked a daycare yet, because well, we've still got over a month. I would really like to work my schedule out to where we don't need daycare. I don't want her first roll, crawl, words to be to someone else. I don't even think that's selfish really. Those are the things that parents are supposed to see. It would break my heart.
We're thinking about only cloth diapering when we're with her. I know that if/when she's in day care they may not agree to do it, but it really isn't too bad. I had bought enough before she was born to do it maybe a day at a time. I am so sick of the leaks from disposables. Also, no matter how often I change her those little diaper beads get all over her. It's not like I let her sit in a wet diaper for even an hour. I don't understand it. Is it a common problem? The cloth covers that we've got just seem to fit better, and they aren't getting that junk all up in her business.
I guess I'm a babywearer. I've got a wrap, and a mei tai carrier. Both are great, I love the wrap though. It's not practical if you're going to need to get the baby in and out, but if baby is staying put for a while, I highly recommend it.

Wrap, I've got her front facing because she does have the good head control. We took a walk around the yard and looked at the bushes and the sky.
This is the mei tai. I almost think it's too short for her. :( It's new, we'll have to keep trying it.

Ok, I think that's enough rambling for now. I'm sure I'll come back to unleash the rest of it.
